Following the resignation of Duncan Hunter, the vacancy in California’s 50th District became a top target for both parties. What followed was a heated battle to claim the top 2 spots at the polls in California’s jungle primary.
Because the primary field was GOP-heavy and included a lopsided Democrat match-up, the main contest was the pairing between Republicans Darrell Issa and Carl DeMaio.
DeMaio had been incredibly vocal in his opposition to President Trump, and had some ethics issues of his own from his days on San Diego city council.
Issa’s team hired RTX for post-production services on a series of digital ads highlighting DeMaio’s questionable record in contrast to Issa’s record of conservatism.
